Dr. Kraus obtained his medical degree from The University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis in 1982. He completed his medicine internship at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis 1983 and his anesthesiology residency at University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis in 1985. After completing his residency in 1985 he entered private practice in anesthesiology and pain management in Memphis.
Dr. Kraus took time off from his private practice in 1994 and completed a pain fellowship at University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina. He returned to Memphis after completing his pain fellowship and he has been in private practice in interventional pain management at the Memphis Pain Clinic since then. Special interests include interventional pain procedures for cervical, thoracic, and lumbar pain, reflex sympathetic dystrophy, spinal cord stimulation, and opiate management for chronic pain. He is board certified in anesthesiology and pain management by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Kraus is licensed in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee. In 2011, he was named one of the “Top Doctors in Memphis” by Memphis Magazine and in 2012 he was named one of the Top 224 Pain Management Specialists in the United States by U.S. News and World Report.
